proverbs 31 movement?

The original person who started this is a kid named Alex Eklund, said this, “I’d rather have a Proverbs 31 woman than a Victoria’s Secret model”. then made a video to follow.

I have to ask the question: since when did being a Proverbs 31 girl and being a Victoria Secret model become mutually exclusive?

yes. i’m a Christian. yes. i strive to be a Proverbs 31 girl. yes. I get complimented on my looks a lot, but I also get compliments in regards to my character.

Yes, I watched the Victoria Secret fashion show and I was actually quite impressed with the route they decided to go this year. Most of the girls looked well-fed/healthy. Most of them weren’t trying to be sexy or sultry and arouse men, instead they were mostly laughing, dancing around and acting goofy. Also, most of the outfits they wore covered more of their bodies than most of the swimsuits girls i know wear (myself included). The whole show was very classy and fun, honestly.

If you’re a girl and you’re watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and becoming insecure about your weight or looks, then you’re obviously not finding your identity in Christ. If you’re actively seeking a relationship with Christ and getting your self-worth from that, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

It’s cool to see a guy’s point of view, but a lot of things he said seemed shallow and not well thought out. I felt as though he was saying that guys shouldn’t date attractive girls because they won’t have the same character as a Proverbs 31 woman.

SIDE-NOTE: The Victoria’s Secret commercials on TV do kind of make me uncomfortable, but he wasn’t talking about the commercials, he was talking about the fashion show.

ALSO: who are you to judge the girls in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Do you know them personally?

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Miss Philippines 2011 Question and Answer
  • Vivica A. Fox: Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love? Why or why not?
  • Shamcey Supsup: If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. If the person loves me, he'll love my God too.
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
—Edmund Burke

Tim and I got to talk tonight for about thirty minutes and it was so great. We decided that we’re going start going through books of the Bible together, write about it during the week, and discuss it on Saturdays. We’re beginning with 1 Corinthians tomorrow, dissecting it little by little. I’m just really excited that we’re doing something like this together. I can’t wait to see how we’re going to grow this summer.
